About Surf Dawg Lacrosse Program
The Surf Dawg Philosophy
Surf Dawg Lacrosse is dedicated to providing a quality lacrosse experience to participants of all ages and ability levels, while preserving the honor and spirit of the game for future generations.
The ultimate mission of the Surf Dawgs is to provide our community's high school programs with high caliber players who consistently demonstrate the values of integrity, respect, responsibility and sportsmanship.
An Overview of the Surf Dawgs
Established in 2003, the Surf Dawg program aims to be the premier instructional and competitive youth lacrosse program in Southern California. The Dawgs are under the direction of G.W. Mix, former NCAA National Coach of the Year and Team President and General Manager of the LA Riptide, a former professional lacrosse team that competed in the Western Division of the MLL (Major League Lacrosse). Coach Mix is currently the Head Coach and Director of Lacrosse for Corona del Mar High School.
The Dawgs compete and play year round with the primary seasons being from January – March (Winter) and April - June (Spring).
Each season, the staff will evaluate the participant's and assign them to the appropriate team based upon grade level, experience, athletic ability and skill level.
At various times during the year, some of the Dawgs are invited to participate in more selective, competitive youth lacrosse tournaments and events throughout Southern California.
In addition, the program will also offer scrimmages and clinics for beginning players who are not yet ready for the challenge and physical demands of a full competitive season.
